Dissertation - Feedback from 1st Presentation and After Thoughts

While my peers and lecturers remain absolutely supportive of my progress in this project, I still can't help but feel that my ideas are all over the place at the moment (Especially when compared to their own projects). While there are most definitely a number of interesting topics and areas in which I could work with for this upcoming dissertation, I do believe the biggest issue is narrowing it all down to a proper structure for the essay itself.

As feared, I still have yet to truly find a solid enough structure for my dissertation. While I am still incredibly set on focusing on the Acting aspect in animation, I begin to realise the fascination I especially hold over motion capturing and the realism of today's video games.

This was most of the feedback I managed to record down from yesterday's session:

For the essay:
  • Motion capture and realism
  • Stylisation and acting (It doesn't always have to be realistically styled after all)
  • Uncanny Valley looked at a boarder sense (Including Freud's Uncanny theory)
  • Ties back to performance
For the practical piece:
  • Concept art
  • Design bible
  • 3D stuff? Modelling? (This may actually be a good time to fiddle around with Maya again... as well as give Blender a try)
